A four-generation Yale family has created an endowment for Yale University Library’s Center for Science and Social Science Information. The center, located in Kline Tower, will be renamed Marx Science and Social Science Library in honor of the Marx family’s support of Yale libraries.

Yale Divinity School (YDS) has received a leadership gift from George and Carol Bauer to support construction of the Living Village, a sustainable residential complex, Gregory E. Sterling, Reverend Henry L. Slack Dean, has announced. The Bauers and their family are contributing $15 million, the largest single gift in the history of YDS and one of the largest gifts ever made to a divinity school.

“Philanthropy is very important to me and my family,” David Wu ’94 says. “Gwen and I realized we could have a direct impact on students with a permanent scholarship in Yale College.” Together, they created the David and Gwen Wu Scholarship Fund in 2011 and supplemented it with a gift in honor of his class’s twenty-fifth reunion in 2019.
